Rising Attacks in the Gulf Region
Following overnight US bombardments, Iran targeted allied nations in Kuwait and Bahrain. Authorities in Bahrain and Kuwait reported that the attacks were intercepted or resulted in fires at residential complexes.
Casualties and Military Moves
Iranian officials reported that one of the overnight US airstrikes hit a wedding party, killing at least five people and injuring dozens. Meanwhile, the US Central Command stated that Tuesday's operations focused on military targets.
In an attack on Monday, the SIDR, a vessel belonging to the Bahri company in the Strait of Hormuz, resulted in the deaths of two Filipino sailors. Additionally, four people were killed in a vehicle-ramming incident in the city of Mashhad.
Economic and Diplomatic Repercussions
Following the clashes, Iran's national currency dropped to its lowest level in history. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the administration is pushing other countries to sever ties with Iran.
While Arab interior ministers condemned the Iranian attacks, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo, and Pakistan continued its mediation efforts.
