July Data Announced: Retail Sales Increased

According to July data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, trade sales volume decreased by 0.6 percent on an annual basis, while retail sales volume increased by 10.4 percent.

Changes in Trade Sales Volume

The Turkish Statistical Institute shared the trade sales volume index data for July with the public. According to the announced data, trade sales volume recorded a decrease of 2.5 percent in July compared to the previous month.

Different Trends in Sub-sectors

In the same month, the sales volume for the wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased by 0.9 percent. Meanwhile, retail trade sales volume also recorded a limited increase of 0.2 percent.

On the other hand, the wholesale trade sales volume item experienced a decline of 4.5 percent during this period, playing a significant role in the overall drop.

Developments on an Annual Basis

Trade sales volume decreased by 0.6 percent in July compared to the same month of the previous year. The trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles declined by 9.8 percent, and the wholesale trade sales volume decreased by 4.2 percent.

In contrast, retail trade sales volume gained strong momentum on an annual basis, rising by 10.4 percent and standing out as the prominent sector.
