Within the scope of the studies carried out by the Ministry, agricultural lands that remain uncultivated for two consecutive years are leased seasonally in order to evaluate their production potential and strengthen food supply security. Details regarding the practice, for which the announcement process began as of September 1, have been disclosed.
Lands Uncultivated for Two Consecutive Years
Agricultural lands that remain uncultivated for two consecutive years for various reasons are leased seasonally by the Ministry, with rental fees paid to their owners. In this way, it is aimed to bring the lands back into agricultural production.
Operation of the Detection and Announcement Process
Detection studies regarding uncultivated agricultural lands were completed by the Land Detection Commissions established at the provincial and district levels for the 2026 production year. The announcement process for the lands within the scope of leasing began on September 1.
Institution Conducting the Leasing Operations
Following the completion of the announcement process and obtaining the approvals of the local administrative authorities, the leasing operations for the uncultivated agricultural lands that will be finalized will be carried out by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry in line with future leasing requests.
Determination of Rental Fees
The rental fee cannot be lower than the market value determined by the relevant commission. To determine the market rental fee, at least three rented agricultural lands with similar characteristics and in the same location will be taken as precedents.
Application Methods and Conditions
Those who wish to lease the announced agricultural lands will be able to apply to the relevant provincial directorate within the announcement period by filling out the leasing request form. Applications can also be made through the Agricultural Lands Valuation and Acquisition Information System, and the rental fee will be paid to the land owner.
