Fed Expectations in the Markets
Gold followed a flat course on Wednesday as investors focused on the US Federal Reserve's interest rate decision, with markets expecting the central bank to raise interest rates.
According to CME FedWatch data, investors are pricing in a 92.4% probability that the Fed will raise interest rates by at least 25 basis points later in the day.
Latest Levels in Gold Prices
Spot gold traded 0.1% lower at $4,288.48 per ounce after touching its lowest level in over a month on Monday.
US gold futures for December delivery also recorded a 0.1% decline, dropping to $4,328.10.
Analyst Evaluations
Naga.com market analyst Frank Walbaum stated that a hawkish Fed rhetoric could push gold prices down further.
Walbaum also expressed that more dovish messages could help the precious metal recover by reducing interest rate hike expectations.
Other Precious Metals
On the front of other precious metals, spot silver exhibited a flat outlook at $63.67 per ounce.
While platinum fell 0.3% to $1,770.47, palladium rose by approximately 1% to $1,301.61.
