Minister Şimşek stated that relations between Turkey and the US date back to the Treaty of Commerce and Navigation signed in 1830, and that the two countries have undertaken shared responsibilities in different periods of history.

It was stated that at a time when structural problems in the global economy are increasing, significant momentum has been gained to revitalize relations under the leadership of the two leaders.
Balanced Trade Structure
Şimşek noted that one-third of the targeted $100 billion trade goal has already been exceeded and that the current bilateral trade has a largely balanced structure.
Achievable Potential
Stating that there is serious potential in energy, technology, the defense industry, and supply chains, Şimşek conveyed that $100 billion is an ambitious yet achievable target.
Improving the Investment Environment
It was explained that macrofinancial stability is being strengthened and the rule-based framework is being decisively reinforced in order to provide an environment that inspires confidence in investors.
