Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan evaluated Vietnam's position in the 2026 Global Innovation Index and stated that businesses must actively participate in innovation processes for the country to achieve its future goals.
Rise in the Global Innovation Index
Vietnam is projected to rank 43rd among 139 countries and economies in the 2026 Global Innovation Index. This represents a one-place rise compared to the previous year.
Minister Vu Hai Quan stated that this result demonstrates the initial progress achieved from the implementation of Resolution No. 57 and shows that the innovation ecosystem is developing positively.
Strategic Goals for 2030 and 2045
Vietnam aims to position the country among the top 40 nations in the Global Innovation Index by 2030 and among the top 30 nations by 2045.
To achieve these ambitious goals, it is of great importance to address certain existing limitations and take strategic steps.
Involvement of Businesses in the Process
Minister Vu Hai Quan emphasized that the role of businesses in investing in science, technology, and innovation is critically important in reaching the targets.
Companies are urged to integrate technology and digital transformation by investing more in financial and human resources.
