The Ministry of Trade inspected hundreds of thousands of companies and millions of products in the first 9 months of the year, imposing a total of 2.6 billion liras in administrative fines on those who failed to comply with the rules.

January-September Inspection Report

The Ministry of Trade carried out comprehensive work during the 9 months of the year to protect the economic welfare of citizens and prevent the disruption of stability in the domestic market.

During this process, a total of 360,578 companies and approximately 44 million 12 thousand products were inspected, and fines were imposed on those where non-compliance was detected.

Activities of the Directorate General of Internal Trade

The Directorate General of Internal Trade conducted inspections in critical areas such as automotive, stockholding, real estate, jewelry, exorbitant pricing, unfair commercial practices, and payment terms.

A total of 724.7 million liras in administrative fines were issued to 6,072 real persons and legal entities determined to have engaged in offending acts.

Penalties Applied on a Sectoral Basis

As a result of the examinations, 399.5 million liras in administrative fines were accrued due to exorbitant pricing practices.

Penalties of 145.1 million liras were applied to the automotive sector, 45.6 million liras to the real estate sector, and 13.7 million liras to the jewelry sector.

Consumer Protection and Surveillance

The Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance carried out inspections in the fields of contracts, advertising, unfair commercial practices, and product safety.

Within this scope, 40,857 individuals were inspected, and approximately 984 million liras in administrative fines were imposed on 1,498 parties acting in violation.

Activities of Provincial Trade Directorates

In inspections carried out through provincial trade directorates across 81 provinces in Turkey, 259,774 companies were examined.

A total of 917.6 million liras in administrative fines were imposed on 52,786 companies found to have acted contrary to legislation.

Current Data from the Competition Authority

On the other hand, within the scope of work conducted by the Competition Authority, 20.5 billion liras in administrative fines were imposed on 255 companies in the first 9 months of this year.

The fines in question covered activities in labor markets, information technologies, platform services, the automotive sector, and the food industry.
