Mint data: Coin production halved in the first 7 months of 2026
The amount of coins put into circulation showed a sharp decline in the first seven months of 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to the data from the General Directorate of the Mint and Stamp Printing House for the January-July period of 2026, the total amount of coins put into circulation decreased by 52.9 percent compared to the same period last year, dropping to 189 million 610 thousand.

The data for the first 7 months of 2026 shared by the General Directorate of the Mint and Stamp Printing House revealed a significant decline in coin production.
Total Decrease Over a One-Year Period
While 402.8 million coins were put into circulation in the first seven months of 2025, this number fell to 189 million 610 thousand in the same period of 2026, causing a major drop in the amount of change supplied to the market.
Printing Status of Low-Value Coins
The most striking change in the table was seen in low-value coins; 1 kuruş and 5 kuruş coins were not issued to the market at all in the first seven months of 2026.
10 Kuruş and 25 Kuruş Production Limit
During the first seven months of the year, only 360 thousand 10 kuruş and 108 thousand 25 kuruş coins were put into circulation, and it was noted that no new minting was carried out for either denomination after February.
Sharp Drop in 1 TL Supply
The supply of 1 TL coins, which are among the most frequently used coins in daily shopping, decreased by 69.4 percent compared to the same period last year, dropping to 95 million 479 thousand.
Status of 5 TL Coins
Although the production of 5 TL coins, which was 89 million 200 thousand in the first seven months of last year, fell to 75 million 546 thousand this year, 1 TL and 5 TL coins accounted for over 90 percent of the total change.
Increase in 50 Kuruş Production
The only exception to the general downward trend, the production of 50 kuruş coins increased from 1.1 million in the first seven months of 2025 to 18 million 117 thousand in the same period of 2026.
