The National Disaster Waste Management Guide, prepared to help municipalities develop and prepare local disaster waste management plans, has been published.
Project Cooperation and Supporters
The guide was prepared within the scope of a project carried out in cooperation with the Union of Municipalities of Turkey and the Japan International Cooperation Agency, with the support of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change.
Main Objectives of the Project
The project was developed to reduce the negative impacts of wastes resulting from disasters on the environment and human health, and to evaluate recyclable materials using a circular economy approach.
Scope and Content of the Guide
The published guide contains detailed information regarding disaster waste types, coordination processes, activities, determination of waste quantities, and administrative needs.
Site Management and Communication Plans
The document also includes the selection and management of temporary disposal sites, procedures to be applied to wastes, communication plans, and training and awareness activities.
