New Fishing Season Started in the Seas: Fish Prices Dropped at Stalls

With the official opening of the fishing season in the seas, activity has been observed at the fish stalls, and a noticeable drop in prices has been recorded, primarily for bonito and anchovies.

Season Opening and Fish Stalls

Ramazan İbiş, a fisherman at the Multi-Storey Bazaar in Adapazarı, Sakarya, reminded that rod fishing started on August 15.

Stating that large boats also set sail as of September 1, İbiş noted that product variety at the stalls increased following the first catches.

Bonito and Anchovy Prices

With the start of the new season, bonito began to find buyers at 100 liras per piece, while large-sized bonito are sold for 125 liras.

The price of anchovies per kilogram dropped from 350 liras to 250 liras within a single day with the participation of large boats in the fishing.

Expectation of a Productive Bonito Season

Fishermen state that they expect a very productive and abundant period this season, especially regarding bonito.

Stating that bonito prices are currently quite affordable, local tradesmen indicated that the public can consume plenty of fish this season.

Expectations for the Coming Days

It is anticipated that bonito will continue to grow in the coming days and reach approximately 1 kilogram towards the middle of September.
