Number of Registered Unemployed in Turkey Exceeds 2.3 Million with September 2026 Data
According to İşkur's September 2026 bulletin, the number of registered job seekers surpassed 2.3 million with a year-on-year increase, while job openings rose but placements declined.
The Turkish Employment Agency (İşkur) has published its September 2026 Statistical Bulletin. Accordingly, the total number of registered job seekers in the country increased over the past year to reach 2,344,288.
Change in the Number of Registered Unemployed
According to İşkur data, the number of registered job seekers, which was 2,267,080 in September 2025, recorded an increase of 77,208 people over the one-year period. In September alone, the number of registered unemployed increased by 7,000.
Gender and Age Distribution
Women accounted for 51.2% and men for 48.8% of the registered job seekers. The number of female job seekers increased by 2.19% annually, while the increase rate among male job seekers was 4.72%. Additionally, youth aged 15-24 made up 25% of total job seekers.
Job Openings and Sectoral Distribution
The number of job openings reported by employers to İşkur in September increased by 6.02% compared to the same period last year, reaching 225,562. Total job openings in the January-September period were recorded at 1,843,569, with 99.6% of this demand coming from the private sector.
Placement Statistics
The number of people placed in jobs through İşkur in September decreased by 4.96% on an annual basis to 140,841. In the first 9 months of the year, a total of 1,087,541 people were employed through the institution.
Counseling and Training Programs
In September, 337,403 individual interviews were conducted by job and vocational counselors. The number of beneficiaries from Active Labor Force Programs in the first 9 months of the year increased by 9.29% to reach 74,203 people.
