Pipeline Welding Completed in the Second Unit of Akkuyu NPP
Critical pipeline welding operations have been successfully completed at the 2nd unit of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.
At the second power unit of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, built by Rosatom, the welding operations of the main circulation pipeline were completed in a period of 73 days.
Welding Process Completed
According to the statement made by Akkuyu Nuclear JSC, the welding operations of the main circulation pipeline, which connects the main equipment of the nuclear island, have been finished.
Detailed Controls Carried Out
Within the scope of the operations completed in a total of 73 days, welding works were carried out at all 32 connection points on the pipeline, and the process was executed in accordance with the technological sequence.
Heat Treatment and Protection
All connection locations were subjected to high-temperature heat treatment in order to eliminate internal metal stress and ensure the designed performance characteristics.
Quality Control Stages
Following the technological operations, the quality of the welded connections was checked through various tests, including ultrasonic, capillary, and radiographic inspection methods.
Next Steps and Evaluations
Akkuyu Nuclear JSC General Manager Sergei Butckikh stated that with this phase, the first circuit of the second unit was established and the groundwork was laid for preparations for commissioning activities.
