Assessments were made on placing businesses at the center of science, technology, and innovation processes, strengthening the value chain, processing agricultural products, and overcoming barriers in technology transfer.

Innovation and Value Chain

Based on practical experience in production, many businesses have determined that science, technology, and innovation are the foundation for improving the value chain and defining long-term development strategies.

Value of Agricultural Products

Huynh Thi Thuy Nhan, General Director of Lac Hung Kaizen Pharmaceutical and Food Joint Stock Company, has identified science and technology as the foundation for increasing the value of local agricultural products during their operation and development process.

The company aims to develop a circular economy from agriculture, reduce resource waste, and own intellectual property with products such as nutritious plant-based drinks, pastilles, tablets, tea, and pectin powder.

Coconut Industry

Duong Thanh Tam, Project Director of Ben Tre Import-Export Joint Stock Company, shared three priority technology directions: deep processing, automation, and circular economy.

The company recommends that the state establish dedicated science and technology programs for the coconut industry.

Technology Transfer Barriers

Nguyen Quynh Thien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, stated that the province still faces many barriers in the process of technology application and transfer.

The provincial administration has decided to renew support methods in line with a model where businesses pose the problem, the state creates resources, and scientists solve it.

General Ecosystem Status

Across the country, there are approximately 962 science and technology enterprises, 33 high-tech enterprises, 13 high-tech application establishments, and more than 4,000 creative startups.

However, compared to the scale of active businesses, this force is small, and the technological innovation rate of domestic businesses remains at a low level.
