Record Increase in Fuel Prices Following Middle East Tension

The escalation of tensions in the Middle East, which heightened concerns over oil supply, and Brent crude prices exceeding 100 dollars continue to reflect as record increases in fuel prices in Turkey.

Developments in the Global Oil Market

Attacks targeting energy facilities and critical maritime transportation routes in the Middle East have significantly increased concerns over global oil supply. These developments have created direct upward pressure on the prices of Brent crude and US West Texas Intermediate crude.

Brent Crude Exceeds One Hundred Dollars

Under the influence of tensions in global markets, Brent crude surpassed the 100 dollar threshold and began trading at levels between 104 and 105 dollars. This situation led to a rapid climb in the costs of all energy products.

Metric Ton Prices of Fuel Products Rose

Following the rising raw material costs, major increases were also seen in the metric ton prices of gasoline and diesel in global markets. After the metric ton price of diesel rose from 1,371 dollars to 1,520 dollars, it retreated slightly and continues to find buyers at 1,479 dollars.

Diesel is Next After the Gasoline Price Hike

While this volatility in global markets is directly reflected in the domestic market, following the 3 TL 20 kuruş hike in gasoline, it is now diesel's turn. Industry sources stated that, based on Friday's closing values, a 6 TL 62 kuruş price hike is expected for diesel on Tuesday.

Monday Pointed Out

With this expected hike, it is stated that the liter price of diesel will approach the 100 TL threshold and break an all-time record. Different formulas, such as whether a Special Consumption Tax (SCT) adjustment will be made or how the hike will be reflected at the pump, are expected to become clear as of Monday at 4:00 PM.
