Record Increase in Türkiye's and Istanbul's Exports to the USA
While Türkiye's foreign sales in the January-August period reached $185 billion, exports to the USA gained significant momentum during this process.
According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Türkiye's exports to the USA increased by 12.9 percent in the January-August period, rising to $9 billion 636 million 664 thousand.
General Export Figures
According to information compiled from Turkish Exporters Assembly data, Türkiye's general exports in the January-August period of this year showed a 4 percent increase compared to the same period of last year.
During this period, the country's total exports rose from $177.9 billion to the $185 billion level, and Germany became the leading country to which the most foreign sales were made.
Exports to the USA
Significant growth was recorded in export figures directed to the USA, which ranks as the second country to which Türkiye makes the most foreign sales after Germany.
In the January-August period, exports to the USA increased by 12.9 percent, rising from $8 billion 535 million 644 thousand to the level of $9 billion 636 million 664 thousand.
Sectoral Developments
In the first 8 months of the year, chemicals and chemical products as well as electrical and electronics sectors managed to come to the forefront in exports to the USA.
While the exports of the chemicals and chemical products sector increased by 33.7 percent to reach $1 billion 43.4 million, the steel sector's exports in August increased by 404.6 percent compared to the same period of last year.
Istanbul's Performance
When examined on a provincial basis, the city that realized the highest exports to the USA in the January-August period was Istanbul with $3 billion 423.8 million.
Istanbul's exports directed to the USA recorded a 9.1 percent increase compared to the same period of last year.
Contribution of Other Cities
Istanbul was followed by Ankara with $976.5 million, Izmir with $819.7 million, Gaziantep with $816.4 million, and Kocaeli with $700.3 million.
Ankara's exports to the USA rose by 53.5 percent, Gaziantep's by 16.8 percent, Kocaeli's by 13.6 percent, and Izmir's by 11.3 percent.
