Results of the CBRT Bank Loans Tendency Survey Announced
According to the Central Bank survey, the tightening in business loans weakened in the third quarter, while this trend is expected to turn into easing and demand growth is anticipated to continue in the fourth quarter.
According to the results of the Bank Loans Tendency Survey published by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, the tightening in business loan standards weakened in the third quarter of 2026, and it is projected to leave its place to easing in the fourth quarter.
Business Loan Standards
In the third quarter of 2026, it was observed that the tightening in standards regarding business loans extended by banks continued to weaken.
While the tightening in standards applied to SMEs left its place to a limited easing, the tightening in large enterprises maintained its weakening trend.
Maturity and Currency Criteria
In terms of maturity, it was observed that standards applied to short- and long-term loans gave way to easing.
While the tightening in TRY-denominated loans left its place to easing, the tightening trend in foreign currency loans continued to weaken.
Situation in Retail Loans
During the same period, the tightening in standards applied to housing loans strengthened, while the tightening in other retail loans continued to weaken.
Fourth Quarter Expectations
In the fourth quarter of the year, it is projected that the tightening in banks' business loan standards will completely leave its place to easing.
It is estimated that the easing in SME loans will strengthen, while there will be no significant change in housing, auto, and other retail loans.
Developments in Credit Demand
According to the survey, the increase in demand for loans extended to businesses continued to strengthen in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the increase in loan demand from SMEs and large enterprises is expected to continue strengthening.
