Saudi Arabia Sells One Hundred Million Barrels of Crude Oil to the Asian Market
Due to issues on the East-West route, Saudi Arabia has initiated massive oil shipments to Asia via the Strait of Hormuz.
Saudi Arabia announced that it has sold approximately 100 million barrels of crude oil to the Asian market via the Strait of Hormuz due to disruptions in the East-West pipeline. Shipments scheduled for delivery in October and November have been directed to countries in the region.
Massive Shipment to Asia
Saudi Arabia has sold approximately 100 million barrels of crude oil to the Asian market since the middle of last week. It was stated that the oil, scheduled for delivery in October and November, will be dispatched through the Strait of Hormuz. Buyers include Chinese state-owned companies and independent refiners, as well as processors in India, Japan, and South Korea.
Pipeline Disruptions
It was reported that the surge in shipments stems from the fact that Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline, which transports oil to the Red Sea, is not yet operating at full capacity following the September 10 attack. It was noted that Saudi Aramco is continuing its efforts to restart the flow in the pipeline at an early stage and aims for a significant recovery by Saturday.
Shipping and Logistics Processes
It was stated that Aramco has offered to undertake all shipping and logistics processes until the crude oil reaches Asian customers. As refiners refrained from sending vessels due to conflict risks, Gulf producers have begun assuming shipping risks. Saudi Aramco refrained from making a statement on the matter.
