September Inflation Rates Announced and Dropped Below 30 Percent

According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute, annual inflation in September dropped to 29.73 percent, crossing a significant threshold after a long period.
September Inflation Rates
TSI shared the September Consumer Price Index realizations with the public and the core rates became clear. Accordingly, inflation in September was realized at 29.73 percent on an annual basis, while it was recorded as 1.84 percent on a monthly basis.
Monthly and Annual Averages
According to the official data announced, the twelve-month average was calculated at 31.49 percent. The nine-month total inflation rate was recorded as 24.32 percent.
Changes in Main Expenditure Groups
Among the main expenditure groups in September, the highest monthly price increase was seen in the transportation sector with a rate of 2.79 percent. On an annual basis, the highest increase occurred in the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels group with 39.99 percent.
Core Inflation and Prominent Items
Core inflation, which is a specially-defined CPI indicator, was realized at 29.00 percent on an annual basis. The price hike champion of September was higher education with an increase of 25.79 percent, while the item with the largest price drop was citrus fruits with a decrease of 24.41 percent.
