Statement on Ceyhan from Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar
Minister Alparslan Bayraktar met with the Iraqi Oil Minister and shared their goals to transform Ceyhan into a global energy hub.
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar met with Iraqi Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani (Basim Muhammed Hudayir) to evaluate goals regarding Ceyhan becoming a global energy base and a new cooperation roadmap.
Agreement and Roadmap
A crude oil transportation agreement was signed between BOTAŠ and SOMO and NOC last August. Following this development, a roadmap for a new long-term and comprehensive agreement is being clarified.
Joint Working Groups
It is planned to activate joint working groups in order to rapidly conclude projects in oil and natural gas infrastructure, exploration and production, oil trade, refinery petrochemicals, and electricity.
Kirkuk-Ceyhan Pipeline
The Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline is aimed to be extended to Basra and its capacity increased. This step is considered important in terms of creating a strong alternative to the Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz.
TPAO's Role and Development Road
It is aimed for the national company TPAO to play an active role in different fields in Iraq, especially the Kirkuk fields, and to increase the trade volume. The Development Road is being built as a strategic energy route.
