Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced that within the scope of the Medium-Term Program, it is targeted to create approximately 2.1 million additional jobs during the 2027-2029 period and to lower the unemployment rate to 7.6 percent by 2029.
Employment and Unemployment Targets
Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan shared the employment targets for the 2027-2029 period prepared within the framework of the Medium-Term Program with the public. During this process, it is planned to realize approximately 2.1 million additional jobs.
New Generation Working Models
Stating that they continue their efforts to reduce unemployment figures in Turkey with new generation models, Minister Işıkhan expressed that they will strengthen the labor force participation of youth and women. Increasing adaptation to sectoral transformations is also among the primary priorities.
The Role of Arnavutköy and Istanbul Airport
Stating that Istanbul Airport hosts over 80 million passengers annually, Işıkhan emphasized that this situation makes Arnavutköy an important center. Arnavutköy Mayor Mustafa Candaroğlu stated that the district is a giant production base with its 22 million square meter industrial area and a workforce exceeding 200,000.
