Trade Minister Ömer Bolat made a written evaluation regarding the 2027-2029 Medium-Term Program announced by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, sharing economic targets for the upcoming period.

Macroeconomic Stability and Fight Against Inflation

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat stated that thanks to the programs implemented with determination for three years, macro-financial stability has strengthened and the economy has acquired a more resilient structure.

Among the main objectives of the program is the uninterrupted continuation of the fight against inflation, which increases production costs and negatively affects the competitiveness of sectors.

Export and Import Targets

Despite negative conditions in the global economy and increasing uncertainties, merchandise exports are targeted to reach 292 billion dollars in 2027.

By the end of the program period in 2029, it is planned to increase total merchandise and service exports to 450 billion dollars.

Under the influence of increases in oil and commodity prices, the merchandise import target for 2027 was determined as 397 billion dollars.

Current Account Deficit Expectation

Minister Bolat emphasized that public purchasing power will be increased while preserving competitiveness.

In 2027, the ratio of the current account deficit to gross domestic product is expected to be 1.9 percent, remaining below its historical average.
