Tax audits carried out by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance Tax Inspection Board focused on the high-income group and large-scale taxpayers. Millions of liras in tax base increases were achieved through the applied monitoring programs.

Large-Scale Taxpayer Audits

Through the work carried out by the Presidency, 31.3% of large-scale taxpayers were subjected to tax audits this year.

With this rate increasing from around 11% in past years, it was observed that almost one out of every three large taxpayers is under audit.

Details of the Monitoring and Compliance Program

The 2nd High-Income Groups Monitoring and Compliance Program was initiated to ensure that taxpayers in the high-income group accurately submit their earnings declarations.

The total tax base increased by taxpayers under surveillance within the scope of the program reached 48.7 billion liras.

Categorization of Taxpayers

Within the scope of the study, taxpayers in the high-income group were examined in two separate groups and subjected to risk analysis.

The first group included those who have partnerships in the largest firms and whose income tax amounts do not match their earnings, while the second group included those whose luxurious lifestyles do not match the taxes they paid.

First-Time Declarants

It was determined that approximately 7,000 taxpayers included in the surveillance scope had not submitted any declarations in previous periods.

The majority of these individuals declared their income by filing tax returns for the first time as a result of the surveillance study.

Assessments by Minister Şimşek

Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that the audit capacity for taxes has been significantly strengthened through the effective use of technology.

Şimşek stated that audits were directed toward large-scale and high-income individuals in order to increase fairness in taxation.
