TESK President Palandöken Calls for Sliding Scale Solution Against Fuel High Costs

Bendevi Palandöken, Chairman of the Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen, emphasized that fuel price hikes create a serious burden on citizens and transportation tradesmen, stating that it is inevitable to implement the sliding scale system for a temporary period.

Effects of Fuel Price Hikes

It was stated that increases in fuel prices victimize both citizens and taxi, minibus, and truck tradesmen. It was noted that this situation drives up the prices of goods transported by tradesmen and increases inflation.

Sliding Scale System Proposal

Drawing attention to the fact that price declines are not possible under these conditions, it was argued that oil price hikes should not be reflected, at least for a temporary period until the citizens find relief.

Inflation and Transportation Burden

It was stated that fuel price hikes trigger inflation by reflecting on all products and services from A to Z. It was conveyed that these increases must be prevented in order for the public to find relief and for the fight against inflation to succeed.

Freight and Shopping Difficulties

It was expressed that petroleum products affect many sectors such as detergents and cosmetics, and that increases in freight fees bring a burden to both citizens and operators.
