Trade Minister Bolat Emphasizes Regional Blocs Against Protectionism

Speaking at the MÜSİAD Arctic Panel Programme and Diplomatic Missions Reception, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat stated that establishing regional cooperation blocs is of critical importance against protectionism in global trade.

Cooperation Against Trade Wars

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat stated that creating preferential trade agreements and establishing regional cooperation blocs are of critical importance against commercial protectionism and trade wars. Minister Bolat expressed that as the Ministry of Trade, they carry out foreign economic relations with all countries of the world with great care and diligence.

MÜSİAD EXPO and International Contacts

Minister Bolat spoke at the Arctic Panel Programme and Diplomatic Missions Reception held at the MÜSİAD Headquarters. Thanking MÜSİAD for organizing the MÜSİAD EXPO International Trade Fair and related events, Bolat said the fair is held every 2 years with the intense participation of international attendees from all over the world.

New York and Brussels Visits

Stating that they were in New York for 3 days with a large delegation from the public and private sectors alongside President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Bolat conveyed that the shortcomings of the system as well as the situation in Palestine, Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon were brought to the agenda at the UN General Assembly. Bolat also noted that he will be in Brussels on Monday morning to hold important talks with certain commissioners of the European Commission.

African Relations and Agreements

Stating that the Africa Leaders Summit will be held in Libya's capital Tripoli at the beginning of December, Bolat emphasized that Turkey's commercial relations with Africa have increased more than 11-fold. Noting that they have 24 free trade and 5 preferential trade agreements with different regions of the world, Minister Bolat expressed that their fundamental philosophy is to conduct foreign economic relations in line with the win-win principle.
