Trade Volume and Economic Cooperation Meeting Between Turkey and Syria

Minister Ömer Bolat, during his visit to Damascus on the occasion of the International Damascus Trade Fair, evaluated steps to increase the bilateral trade volume to $10 billion with his Syrian counterpart, Mohammed Nidal al-Shaar.
Critical Contacts Held in Damascus
Minister Ömer Bolat held contacts in Damascus with a large business delegation on the occasion of the 63rd International Damascus Trade Fair. In the first part of the visit, he met with Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Mohammed Nidal al-Shaar.
$10 Billion Trade Target
During the meeting, concrete steps to bring the bilateral trade volume, set by the presidents of the two countries, to the $10 billion level were discussed. Cooperation opportunities for facilitating trade, particularly transportation and customs gates, were put on the table.
Reconstruction and JETCO Process
The roles that the Turkish private sector could undertake in Syria's reconstruction process were evaluated in detail. It was emphasized that the agreements reached at the Turkey-Syria JETCO Meeting held in April would be followed up and transformed into concrete results.
