The Ministry of Trade announced that infrastructure, digitalization, and capacity-increasing efforts are being carried out to reduce congestion at customs gates and accelerate vehicle crossings.

Capacity Increase and Congestion Tracking

The Ministry of Trade is carrying out capacity-increasing works at gates with high transaction volumes, primarily Kapıkule, Sarp, and Gürbulak. It was reported that congestion at land customs gates is monitored periodically and reports are prepared to increase the speed of vehicle crossings.

Authorized Consignor System Implementation

Within the scope of the authorized consignor system implemented to accelerate export transportations, 77 companies and 115 facilities have been authorized so far. With this system, export goods are sealed at company facilities without being taken to the customs office and are directly dispatched to the border customs office.

Field Analysis at Kaçkar Customs

The Customs Gates Field Analysis Program was launched to analyze waiting and transaction times at customs areas. While the pilot application has been put into effect at the Kaçkar Customs and Foreign Trade Regional Directorate, the program is planned to be rolled out widely in a short time.

Digitalization and Transit Systems

Within the scope of digitalization at customs gates, it is targeted to expand the use of the New Computerized Transit System and e-TIR applications. These systems aim to share information regarding vehicles and transit operations electronically.

Renewed Gates and Technological Equipment

To date, renewal works have been completed at 19 customs gates. The renewed facilities have been equipped with Closed-Circuit Camera Systems, License Plate Recognition Systems, X-Ray, and under-vehicle imaging systems.
