Transport Minister Uraloğlu Announces Istanbul's Metro Requirement

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu made important statements regarding transportation investments and high-speed train projects in Istanbul. Drawing attention to the importance of rail systems to overcome the city's traffic problem, Uraloğlu shared the metro length needed.

One Thousand Kilometers Metro Target for Istanbul

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu emphasized that there are currently approximately 380 kilometers of rail systems in Istanbul, and more than 160 kilometers of this network have been implemented by the ministry.

Stating that the city's increasing traffic load cannot be solved on the surface with rubber-tired systems, Uraloğlu expressed that a total of 1,000 kilometers of metro network is urgently needed across Istanbul.

Schedule Clarified for High-Speed Train Line

Touching upon railway projects in his statements, Minister Uraloğlu announced that the Çerkezköy-Kapıkule section of the Halkalı-Kapıkule High-Speed Train Line will enter service next month.

He added that the Halkalı-Çerkezköy section, which is another leg of the project, is planned to be opened within the next year.

New Tunnel and Metro Lines on the Way

Noting that construction works on the Sarıyer-Kilyos Tunnel are nearing completion and the project is planned to be opened at the end of the year, Uraloğlu provided information about other ongoing transportation projects.

He also conveyed that the Ümraniye-Beykoz metro line and the Bosna Boulevard-Çamlıca Mosque-Ümraniye Sports Village metro line have been transferred to the responsibility of the ministry.
