Turkey Surpasses OECD Average with PISA 2025 Results

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced that, according to PISA 2025 results, Turkey has significantly improved its ranking in all areas and surpassed the OECD average in science and reading skills.
Double-Digit Rise in Three Areas
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek stated in his evaluation of the PISA 2025 results that Turkey recorded double-digit increases in all three core areas. According to the evaluation, Turkey climbed 15 ranks in science, 18 in reading skills, and 11 in mathematics among 91 countries.
Score Increase Among OECD Countries
Turkey became the country that increased its score the most in all three areas compared to 2022 among OECD countries. According to the released data, it was officially declared that Turkey surpassed the OECD average in science and reading skills.
The Sole Member of the Past Decade
Turkey achieved the success of being the only OECD member to continuously increase its performance in all three areas over the past 10 years. This clearly demonstrated the country's long-term progress and sustainable success momentum in education.
Budget Share Allocated to Education
Minister Şimşek stated that efforts to strengthen the quality of human capital, the fundamental element of development, are ongoing. It was noted that the highest share in the 2026 budget was allocated to education at a rate of 15.3 percent.
