Turkey's Crude Steel Production Increased by 7 Percent Year-on-Year in July
The Turkish Steel Producers Association published July data. Crude steel production across the country increased while foreign trade data were also shared.
According to July data announced by the Turkish Steel Producers Association (TCUD), Turkey's crude steel production reached 3.4 million tons after recording a 7 percent increase on an annual basis.
July Production Figures
According to the July data announced by the Turkish Steel Producers Association, the country's crude steel production experienced an increase of 7 percent compared to the same month of 2025, reaching 3.4 million tons.
Seven-Month Production Performance
Looking at the first 7-month period of the year, total crude steel production showed an increase of 7.9 percent and materialized at the level of 23.2 million tons.
Finished Product Consumption
While finished product consumption decreased by 5.1 percent year-on-year in July to 3.5 million tons, it rose by 4.7 percent in the January-July period to 23.3 million tons.
Developments in Export Data
Steel product exports in July increased by 2.9 percent in volume compared to the same period of last year to 1.2 million tons, and by 4.4 percent in value to 827.3 million dollars.
In the January-July period, exports reached 9 million tons with a 2.4 percent increase in volume, and 6.1 billion dollars with a 1.6 percent rise in value.
Decline on the Import Side
Imports in July decreased by 19.7 percent in volume compared to the same month of last year to 1.5 million tons, and declined by 17.6 percent in value to 1.1 billion dollars.
In the 7 months of the year, total imports fell by 3 percent in volume to 10.7 million tons, and by 4.9 percent in value to the level of 7.4 billion dollars.
Coverage Ratio and Sector Evaluation
The ratio of exports to imports, which was 76.9 percent in the January-July period of last year, rose to 82.1 percent in the same period of this year.
TCUD General Secretary Veysel Yayan stated that this increase recorded in production strengthened the sector's production performance in the 7-month period of the year.
