Turkey's exports to Germany reached 13.6 billion dollars in the January-August period

In the January-August period, foreign sales from Turkey as a whole showed an increase, reaching $13.6 billion and ranking at the top.

According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Turkey's total exports increased to $185 billion in the first eight months of the year, while the country to which the most foreign sales were made was Germany with $13 billion 576 million.

General Export Figures

According to information compiled from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Turkey's exports in the January-August period of this year increased by 4 percent compared to the same period of last year, rising from $177.9 billion to $185 billion.

Countries with the Highest Exports

Turkey made its highest foreign sales to Germany in the January-August period of this year. Exports to Germany increased by 3.8 percent to reach $13 billion 576 million 381 thousand.

Germany was followed by the USA with $9 billion 636.6 million, the United Kingdom with $9 billion 219.3 million, Italy with $8 billion 561.6 million, Spain with $7 billion 238.9 million, and France with $6 billion 925.8 million, respectively.

Exports to Germany by Cities

In the January-August period, the highest exports to Germany were made from Istanbul, and the foreign sales of Istanbul-based companies increased by 1 percent to $5 billion 235.9 million.

Istanbul was followed by Bursa with $1 billion 988.1 million, Kocaeli with $1 billion 552.8 million, Izmir with $979.7 million, and Ankara with $734.7 million.

Sectoral Distribution and Leading Sector

The automotive industry became the sector that realized the highest exports to Germany, and foreign sales in this field increased by 2.4 percent to $4 billion 441.3 million.

Following the automotive sector, the highest exports were made by the apparel and clothing sector with $1 billion 610.9 million.

Developments in Other Sectors

Exports of iron and non-ferrous metals increased by 13.2 percent to $1 billion 187.5 million, and electrical and electronics exports increased by 8.5 percent to $969.8 million.

While chemical substances exports increased by 11 percent to $965.6 million, exports of the fresh fruit and vegetable sector rose by 47.9 percent to $270.6 million.
