Turkey's Fishery Exports Reach $1.8 Billion in Nine Months
Recording an increase in the January-September period compared to the same time last year, the sector exported to 95 different countries.
Turkey's fishery exports increased by 16.5 percent in the January-September period of the year compared to the same period of last year, reaching $1 billion 807 million 942 thousand.
Increase in Quantity and Price in Exports
According to data shared by the Aegean Exporters' Associations, the sector's 9-month exports increased by 5.5 percent in terms of quantity.
During this period, a total of 216 thousand 465 tons of fishery products were exported, while the average export price per kilogram rose from $7.57 to $8.35.
The Aegean Region's Share and Product Distribution
While 68 percent of the total exports realized were provided by the Aegean Region, aquaculture in İzmir and Muğla stood out.
Among the product groups, sea bass ranked first with $596 million 594 thousand, while sea bream, Turkish salmon, trout, and bluefin tuna also took significant shares.
Targets and Global Market Demands
Sinan Kızıltan, Chairman of the Sector Board of Turkey Fishery and Animal Products Exporters' Associations, announced that the year-end target is $2.3-2.5 billion.
While it was stated that the European Union and US markets stand out, it was expressed that global demand for processed and packaged products is increasing day by day.
