Turkey's postal sector generated 104 billion liras in revenue in the first half of 2026
Driven by the rise in e-commerce volume, the postal sector significantly increased its revenues in the first six months of the year, supported by growth in cargo shipments.
In the first half of 2026, Turkey's postal sector recorded a growth of 34.4 percent compared to the same period last year, fueled by the momentum provided by e-commerce. According to data from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), the sector's total revenue reached 104.45 billion liras.
Sectoral Growth and Market Structure
A total of 52 different service providers operating across the country continue to provide services through 9,543 branches and agencies. The widespread adoption of e-commerce has created significant activity in postal and cargo traffic.
Of the sector's total revenue, 87.9 billion liras were generated from cargo transportation, while 16.4 billion liras were derived from communication shipments.
Shipment Statistics and Trends
The number of cargo shipments increased by 5 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 728 million. Corporate transactions accounted for 96 percent of these shipments, and more than 83 percent of the traffic occurred between cities.
A decline was observed in communication shipments. The number of such shipments decreased by 5.4 percent, falling to the 105 million level.
