The Scale of the International Education Economy
Together with the educational services exports generated by international students coming to Turkey, the two-way international education economy reaches a size of $4.9 to $5.7 billion.
Number of Students in Germany and Other Countries
While Germany maintains its top spot in Turkish students' study abroad preferences, the student indicator in the country has risen to the level of 20,900.
While the number of Turkish students in the USA reached 9,413, the current indicator in Italy was recorded as 8,411.
Upward Trend in the Netherlands Market
While total international student enrollments in the Netherlands declined, new registrations from Turkey increased by approximately 25 percent, reaching 1,677.
Distribution of Direct Economic Volume
Higher education accounts for approximately $1.7–$2.3 billion of the $2.0–$2.8 billion volume created by Turkish students abroad.
Meanwhile, the economic size of language education, summer and junior programs, and other mobilities is calculated at approximately $300–$500 million.
Sectoral Evaluations and Targets
YEDAB President Osman Yılmaz stated that the data indicates a significant transformation in Turkey's study abroad sector and that the two-way economy has exceeded $5 billion.
