UBS Forecasts 8,400 Points for the S&P 500 Index

Global financial institution UBS expects the S&P 500 index to maintain its upward trend despite potential volatility in the upcoming period, reaching 8,400 points by June 2027.

Market Peak and Expectations

The S&P 500 index managed to hit a new record for the first time since August, gaining 0.6 percent during the October 6 session. The bank stated that while short-term volatility might be seen in the index, which has gained around 14 percent since the beginning of the year, the general direction will remain upward.

Artificial Intelligence and Capital Expenditures

According to UBS analysis, artificial intelligence-focused investments are among the primary catalysts driving global stock markets. Global capital expenditures connected to artificial intelligence are expected to increase by more than a third on an annualized basis in 2027, surpassing $1.2 trillion.

Corporate Earnings and Sectoral Distribution

A strong earnings outlook is also drawing attention on the Nasdaq 100 front. According to market consensus, the earnings of Nasdaq 100 companies are projected to increase by 43 percent this year and by 28 percent in 2026.

Broad-Based Growth

The bank calculates the total earnings growth rate of S&P 500 companies as 25 percent for this year and 14 percent for 2027. Additionally, the report states that the expected earnings growth will not remain limited to technology alone but will spread to other sectors, broadening the rise in the index to a wider base.
