US Administration Says No Liability Shield for AI Companies

In an interview with CNBC, US official Bessent evaluated US President Donald Trump's stance against imposing strict regulations on the artificial intelligence sector. Stating that artificial intelligence developers must assume their own responsibilities, Bessent noted that companies should not expect a legal liability shield from the federal government.

Stating that it is humans, not artificial intelligence, that bear responsibility, Bessent indicated that the US and China will establish a direct communication line for incidents that may arise from artificial intelligence. It was reported that the parties will come together in two months to address artificial intelligence issues.

Relations with China and Iran

Bessent stated that he recently discussed customs tariffs, the economy, and artificial intelligence issues with Chinese officials. Noting that he cannot predict how long the conflict with Iran will last, the official announced that all Iranian airline companies' worldwide operations will be suspended on September 23. Making assessments regarding interest rates, Bessent noted that he expects interest rates to fall after the conflicts with Iran end.
