The Situation of India and China
India and China, which stand as the largest buyers of Russian crude oil, rank among the countries most likely to be affected by potential tariff sanctions. According to CREA data, between December 2022 and August 2026, China accounted for half of Russia's crude oil exports, while India accounted for 37%.

Russia provided 30.3% of India's total crude oil imports in the 2026 fiscal year, with the financial value of this trade recorded at $40.8 billion. Experts and officials are closely monitoring these moves.
