The Muğla Provincial Presidency of the Victory Party has announced a comprehensive field report prepared as a result of meetings held with 104 tradespeople and 34 organization managers within the scope of the Local Economy Working Desks. The report includes findings and solution proposals regarding Muğla's economic, demographic, and environmental problems.

Economic difficulties of tradespeople

The report stated that more than 80 percent of Muğla tradespeople face the risk of bankruptcy due to exorbitant rent increases, heavy withholding taxes, and tax burdens. It was emphasized that local tradespeople experience unfair competition with unlicensed businesses, and that large companies paying their taxes to other provinces weakens local resources.

Tourism and infrastructure problems

It was stated that high taxes on food and alcohol reduce service quality and that the price difference created with the Greek Islands negatively affects tourist preferences. In addition, it was noted that the prolonged road works on the Milas-Söke highway, traffic congestion, and inadequate infrastructure systems cause serious problems in the summer months.

Environmental threats and natural areas

Drawing attention to the environmental impacts of Akbelen, Bodrum Cennet Bay, and marble quarries, the report argued that rent-oriented projects pose a threat to forests, groundwater, and agricultural lands. It was stated that uncontrolled waste must be prevented to protect natural and historical values.

Housing and security concerns

It was expressed that the sale of real estate to foreigners and uncontrolled internal migration increase housing prices, restricting the housing opportunities of the local population. Security concerns regarding drug trafficking and socialization tendencies towards mafias along with the increasing foreign population were also among the important headings of the report.

Special solution proposals for Menteşe

In Menteşe specifically, infrastructure inadequacy, traffic congestion, and students moving away from the center due to high rents were identified as prominent problems. As a solution, public order plans coordinated with the police, scientific urbanization, and rent support policies were proposed.

Economic solution plan

The party demanded sanctions against businesses operating tax-free, legal regulations to ensure that taxes of large companies remain in the city, and the introduction of business quotas to protect small tradespeople. In addition, it was requested that new mining licenses be suspended and property sales to foreigners be restricted.

Muğla Economy Barometer

It was announced that field studies will be regularly reported under the name 'Muğla Economy Barometer'. It was reported that data collection from tradespeople will continue with QR-coded digital participation methods and that efforts towards the local economy will be sustained uninterruptedly.
