The Central Propaganda Department and relevant agencies held a comprehensive workshop to introduce Politburo Decree No. 83-KL/TW, which aims to develop Vietnam's materials industry.

Purpose of the Workshop

Led by the Central Propaganda Department and in collaboration with the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, a workshop was organized. The event was held to disseminate and thoroughly understand Politburo Decree No. 83-KL/TW dated August 8, 2026.

Strategic Position of the Materials Industry

Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, stated that the materials industry holds a special position in the economy. This field was defined as a decisive factor in terms of strategic self-reliance, national competitiveness, and the ability to master core technologies.

Future Milestones

In line with the decree, it is targeted to publish the national strategy in 2026 and establish the national database in 2027. Furthermore, it is planned to establish 3 to 5 national materials research centers by 2028.

Localization and Targets

Within the framework of the set strategic targets, the localization rate in certain strategic materials is projected to reach 50 percent by 2030. These steps aim to enhance the country's industrial capacity.
