Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that major operations targeting street gangs and new-generation criminal organizations have been launched across Turkey, stating that judicial proceedings have been initiated against a total of 2,447 suspects.

Conducted under the Coordination of 78 Chief Prosecutor's Offices

The operations carried out on the morning of September 14 were implemented within the scope of investigations conducted by 78 Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices under the coordination of the General Directorate of Criminal Affairs. Judicial proceedings were applied to a total of 2,447 suspects with the participation of police and gendarmerie teams.

Numerous Crime Areas Targeted

Within the scope of the operations, structures evaluated to be operating in various crime areas such as drug trafficking, extortion, arms trafficking, blackmail, money laundering, and illegal betting were cracked down upon.

It was stated that the fight is not limited to capturing suspects; it also focuses on the financial resources, human resources, logistical capabilities, and connections of criminal organizations.

Preventing Youth from Being Pulled into Crime Networks

Another striking heading of the operations was formed by structures trying to influence youth through social media and involve them in criminal organizations. It was stated that a resolute stance will be exhibited against presenting crime as a status symbol among the youth.

It was emphasized that children and youth will never be allowed to become the human resources of criminal organizations, and the streets will not be left to criminal gangs.
