Meta Announces New Pricing System for WhatsApp Business Platform
Starting October 1, 2026, the first 1,000 service messages per month will be free for businesses on the WhatsApp Business Platform, with messages exceeding the limit incurring charges.
According to the new regulation implemented by Meta, the first 1,000 service messages per month will be free for businesses using the WhatsApp Business Platform, and messages sent beyond this limit will be subject to a fee.
New Pricing Details
Meta is preparing to implement a new pricing system for the WhatsApp Business Platform starting October 1, 2026. With this regulation, the first 1,000 service messages per month will be provided free of charge per business phone number.
If this designated free limit is exceeded, the messages sent will be billed. The change covers businesses managing customer communication via the WhatsApp Business Platform or API, rather than standard users.
Shift in Digital Business Models
Digital platforms that were offered to businesses for free for years have transformed over time with access restrictions, subscription models, and paid features. A similar process is now beginning to take place on WhatsApp.
Medium and large-scale enterprises now actively use WhatsApp as a critical channel for processes such as orders, appointments, cargo tracking, and customer service. This indicates that the 1,000-message limit can be rapidly exceeded for companies conducting intensive communications.
Strategic Risks for Businesses
The fact that the infrastructure of digital platforms does not belong to businesses brings along the risk of rules or pricing policies being changed unilaterally. Experts point out that tying all customer communication to a single company's platform can create costs.
In response to this situation, it is emphasized that companies need not only to digitalize but also to build their own customer databases and CRM infrastructures to own their digital assets.
