Defense Cooperation

While new steps in defense cooperation between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan have come to the agenda, joint defense plans were discussed at a meeting held in Riyadh.

Within the scope of this cooperation, it is planned that Turkey will support the protection of strategic facilities in Saudi Arabia with air defense systems.

Protection of Critical Facilities

Joint strategies were evaluated at the extraordinary meeting of the Mecca Defense Alliance in Riyadh.

It is stated that Turkey will contribute to the protection of four critical natural gas and electricity facilities in Saudi Arabia, and within this framework, low and medium-altitude air defense systems will be put into operation.

Military Base and Deployment

Among the notable headings of the agreement are the options of deploying Turkish soldiers to Saudi Arabia and establishing a Turkish military base in the country.

For the plan to be implemented, the approval of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey is required, and preparations regarding the issue are expected to come to the agenda of the Assembly.

Yemen and Technology Support

While Turkey is not expected to carry out direct offensive military activities in Yemen, it is foreseen to provide tactical and logistical support to the Yemeni army.

It is stated that Turkish UAV and UCAV technologies are used in operations conducted against the Houthis, and that various defense systems and military experts have been sent to Saudi Arabia.
