Dentists' Perceptions of AI-Assisted Implant Treatment Investigated
A new survey study revealed that as dentists' knowledge levels regarding artificial intelligence increased, their ethical and legal concerns decreased.
A cross-sectional study examined dentists' ethical and legal concerns regarding the integration of artificial intelligence into implant dentistry. According to the research results, having more knowledge about artificial intelligence and prior experience are among the most important factors reducing concerns in this area.
Scope of the Research and Participants
A total of 130 dentists participated in the survey-based study conducted between March and August 2022. It was determined that the participants had a mean age of 42.3 and an average of 15.6 years of clinical experience.
AI Knowledge and Decreasing Concerns
The findings indicated that higher artificial intelligence knowledge scores and past exposure to artificial intelligence were directly associated with a decrease in ethical and legal concerns arising in implant dentistry.
Strongest Independent Predictive Factor
When the data obtained during the research process were analyzed, it was determined that the individual knowledge level regarding artificial intelligence stood out as the strongest independent predictor of ethical and legal concerns.
