Results of the Research on Belief and Religiosity in Turkey Announced
A comprehensive social field research revealed the distribution between belief rates and worship practices, as well as regional differences in the country.
The study titled "Belief and Religiosity in Turkey with Data", prepared within the scope of the Turkey General Social Field Research, revealed the relationship between society's belief levels and worship habits, as well as their regional distribution.

The study "Belief and Religiosity in Turkey with Data", prepared by Zübeyir Nişancı and Hüseyin Sağlam, was published by İSAR Publications and sparked widespread interest.
High Belief Rates
According to the research, 94 percent of the participants stated that they believe in God and that God has an important place in their lives. Trends of disbelief such as atheism and deism remained at the level of 4 percent.
Difference Between Worship and Belief
While 94 percent of the participants stated that they believe in God, the rate of those who regularly perform the five daily prayers was 40 percent. The rate of those who never or rarely perform prayers was recorded as 36 percent.
Regional Changes
The research clearly showed that religious practices vary by region. Belief and worship levels were measured above average in the Eastern Black Sea, Northeastern Anatolia, and Southeastern Anatolia regions.
Highest and Lowest Rates
The region with the highest frequency of performing the five daily prayers was Northeastern Anatolia with an index score of 4.10. The Aegean Region ranked last in the worship frequency index with 2.56 points.
