Tech rally led by AI giants overcomes bond pressure
Despite bond and political concerns in the markets, strong buying in artificial intelligence stocks drove stock indices higher.
Despite concerns in the bond market and high yields, investors turning to shares of leading U.S. artificial intelligence companies pushed the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 indices higher.
Upward Trend in Indices
Although the yields on 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds rose to their highest level in over two decades, the S&P 500 index recorded a 0.7% increase on Monday, led by Nvidia and Microsoft shares.
Meanwhile, the Nasdaq 100 index drew attention by closing at an all-time high for the second consecutive session with a 0.9% increase.
Investors' Search for Safe Havens
Joe Gilbert, Portfolio Manager at Integrity Asset Management, evaluated the general sentiment in the market by describing the S&P 500's performance this year as resilient.
Gilbert emphasized that investors are seeking clarity and that the large-cap stocks known as the Magnificent Seven are seen as a safe haven during this process.
Market Breadth Challenges
Despite this rally led by large-cap stocks, the proportion of stocks trading above their moving averages retreated to levels seen in March.
It was reported that only 9 out of 416 industry groups tracked by Piper Sandler analysts reached new 26-week highs last week.
