Pregnant Woman Rescued from Capsized Ship in TRNC Transported to Turkey
Menekşe Nur Akkaya Gökdaş, an 8-month pregnant woman rescued from a ship that capsized off the coast of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, was brought to Kocaeli by an air ambulance following her treatment in Nicosia.
Menekşe Nur Akkaya Gökdaş, who was rescued alive from a passenger ship that capsized off the coast of Kyrenia in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, was transferred to Turkey via an air ambulance belonging to the Ministry of Health upon her family's request, following the completion of her treatment at a hospital in Nicosia.
Transfer Operation for the Pregnant Woman Rescued from the Ship
Menekşe Nur Akkaya Gökdaş, an 8-month pregnant woman among those rescued from the ship accident that occurred off the coast of Kyrenia in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, had been hospitalized at Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital.
Following the completion of the hospital process, and taking the family's request into consideration, official procedures were initiated for the safe transfer of the pregnant woman to Turkey.
Ministry of Health Air Ambulance Departed for TRNC
An air ambulance belonging to the Ministry of Health of Turkey landed at Ercan Airport in the TRNC and completed its preparations.
After being brought to Ercan Airport by ambulance from the hospital accompanied by a doctor, Menekşe Nur Akkaya Gökdaş was transferred to the aircraft to depart for Turkey.
Her Husband Volkan Gökdaş Accompanied Her on the Journey
Menekşe Nur Akkaya Gökdaş was accompanied by her husband, Volkan Gökdaş, during this critical and challenging transfer process.
Making statements to the press at the airport upon their arrival in Turkey, Volkan Gökdaş expressed his gratitude to the authorities for their support following the accident.
Statement of Thanks to Authorities and Institutions
Volkan Gökdaş emphasized that they had been closely looked after from the very first moment of the accident and that their request for an air ambulance was met quickly.
In his statement, he thanked the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia, the Ministry of Health, and all other authorized institutions that contributed to the process.
They Changed the Name They Will Give Their Baby After the Accident
Following the major ship accident they experienced, the family made an emotional decision regarding the future and decided to change their baby's name.
Father Volkan Gökdaş stated that they had previously planned the name Deniz Ecem for their expected baby girl, but after the accident, they decided to name their newborn daughter Alara.
