Naciye Kandaş, a 70-year-old who applied to Bitlis State Hospital, had the cancerous mass in her colon completely removed in a successful 7.5-hour operation performed using an advanced laparoscopic method.

Disease Diagnosis and Process

As a result of endoscopy and pathological examinations performed on Naciye Kandaş, who applied to Bitlis State Hospital with complaints of rectal bleeding, a mass compatible with cancer and numerous polyps were detected on the right side of the colon.

Kandaş, for whom surgery was decided, had her colon completely removed using an advanced laparoscopic method applied through 5 small incisions opened in the abdominal cavity, and her small intestine was connected to the remaining section of approximately 10 centimeters.

General Surgery Specialist Ozan Korkmaz stated that the operation required advanced-level laparoscopic surgery, lasted approximately 7.5 hours, and drew attention to the importance of timely cancer screenings.
