Asu Kaya's Call to the Ministry of Health on HPV Vaccine and Family Planning

New Party Osmaniye MP Asu Kaya called on the Ministry of Health, stating that there are serious difficulties in accessing free family planning methods at Family Health Centers.

Supply Issues Experienced in Family Health Centers

New Party Osmaniye MP Asu Kaya made statements based on a report prepared by the Unity and Solidarity Union with 245 FHC employees. According to the report, 89.7 percent of Family Health Centers have not been supplied with IUDs within the past year.

According to the same report, no IUD procedures were performed at all in 96.7 percent of the centers. Due to reasons such as lack of materials and insufficient personnel, family planning services are left only at the counseling level.

Directing Women to the Private Sector

It was stated that women have difficulty accessing birth control methods due to material and personnel shortages in Family Health Centers. It was emphasized that as a result of these deficiencies, women are being directed to the private sector.

HPV Vaccine and Cancer Data

MP Asu Kaya criticized the fact that the HPV vaccine is not free of charge and drew attention to the importance of the issue. She conveyed that more than 2,300 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year in Turkey.

In the statements made, it was shared that 1,500 women among the patients diagnosed with cervical cancer lost their lives, and it was demanded that the vaccine be made accessible.

Call to the Ministry of Health

Asu Kaya stated that birth control methods and the HPV vaccine are not luxuries but a health right. She demanded from the Ministry of Health that these services be made accessible to all citizens.
