Collapse of damaged building in Gaza leaves 21 dead
The collapse of a damaged building in Gaza's Industrial zone left dozens trapped under the rubble, highlighting the deepening health crisis in the region.
In the Industrial zone southwest of Gaza City, the collapse of a residential building previously damaged in Israeli attacks resulted in the deaths of 21 people, including children and women, while many others remain missing under the rubble.
Building Collapse in the Industrial Zone
In the Industrial zone southwest of Gaza City, the Saada residential building, which had been previously damaged in Israeli airstrikes, collapsed with a loud crash late Tuesday night.
Search and rescue operations were launched in the area to rescue people trapped in the rubble of the building, which was known to house approximately 100 people.
Identities of the Deceased and the Injured
Health sources at the Al-Shifa Medical Complex confirmed that 21 people lost their lives in the incident, consisting of 8 children, 6 women, and 7 men.
While it was determined that the majority of those who lost their lives were residents of the Shuja'iyya neighborhood, 15 injured individuals were taken to hospitals for treatment.
Rescue Operations and Missing Persons
Although civil defense teams are trying to reach the people under the rubble, it is followed with concern that dozens of people are still missing under the debris.
The Gaza Civil Defense Organization announced that approximately 2,000 buildings are in danger of collapsing at any moment and that the total number of missing persons under the rubble exceeds 8,500.
Call for Emergency Equipment and Machinery
With the approach of the winter season, the Gaza Civil Defense Organization called for heavy machinery and rescue equipment to be delivered to the region as soon as possible.
Collapse of the Health System
Zahir Al-Wahidi, Director of the Health Information Center at the Gaza Ministry of Health, stated during a press conference that the health system is being driven toward mass execution.
Stating that the current situation has turned into a clear health genocide, Al-Wahidi noted that more than 70 percent of the generators are out of service.
Material and Transportation Difficulties
While deep difficulties continue in procuring fuel, spare parts, and medical supplies, the halt in transportation prevents hundreds of healthcare workers from reaching their posts.
