A field drill with an earthquake scenario was organized in Bayburt with the participation of UMKE, AFAD, security, and health teams in order to increase the level of preparation for possible disasters and emergencies.

Scope and Purpose of the Drill

An earthquake-scenared field drill was conducted in Bayburt within the scope of the 2026 Local Level Health Group Operation Plan. With this drill carried out, it was aimed to increase the level of preparation against possible disasters and strengthen the response capacity in the field.

Inter-Institutional Coordination

Personnel from UMKE, AFAD, the Bayburt Provincial Directorate of Security, the Provincial Gendarmerie Command, Bayburt University, and other relevant institutions participated in the drill. As per the scenario, security measures were taken around the wreckage, and inter-institutional coordination was tested.

Evacuation and Response to the Injured

Within the scope of the drill, operations were carried out to safely extract and evacuate wounded individuals who were assumed to be trapped under the rubble. Health teams evaluated the condition of the injured and simulated dispatch operations to relevant units.

Evaluations by Authorities

Authorities emphasized that such exercises are of great importance in terms of enabling teams to perform their duties much faster and in a more coordinated manner during possible disaster situations.
