Cyprus Turkish Medical Association President Ceyhun Dalkan criticized the Ministry of Health's decision to recruit temporary healthcare staff through a short-term notice and interviews without conducting exams, emphasizing that the healthcare sector cannot be managed through patronage.

Reaction to the Exam-Free Recruitment Decision

Cyprus Turkish Medical Association President Ceyhun Dalkan criticized the Ministry of Health's announcement that it will recruit 90 temporary healthcare workers through interviews without holding exams, via a two-day notice.

Emphasis on Workforce Planning

CTMA President Ceyhun Dalkan made a written statement indicating that trained and qualified staff are needed, and noted that the recruitment process should be carried out through scientific and transparent workforce planning rather than daily decisions.

Emergency Medical Technician Need and Legal Process

While it was stated that there is an urgent need for emergency medical technicians within the Department of Health Services, it was recalled that the legal regulation was swiftly passed through the Assembly on the grounds that the Specialty Board process could not be waited for since the personnel would be hired on a permanent basis.

Call for Merit and Transparency

Arguing that the current period is the worst in healthcare administration and a process during which bribery allegations have heavily come to the agenda, Dalkan stated that every recruitment in public health services requires transparency, merit, and accountability.

Demand for the Withdrawal of the Decision

Stating that the labor of healthcare workers and the public's right to health cannot be instruments of political calculations, the CTMA invited the Ministry of Health to withdraw this decision and take steps toward recruitment based on merit.
